Sports > Stand up paddle surfing (SUp)

Stand up paddle surfing is a relatively new sport and it's quick becoming a very popular activity for people that live near the ocean, but also on lakes and rivers, people still love to paddle. The sport is accessible for people of all ages and you don't need an ocean or surfing background to get into the sport of paddle surfing.

We at Swell love the new sport and have a good range of equipment available for rent or to give lessons for the people that are new to the sport of stand up paddle surfing (SUP). A typical lesson will last about 2 hours and will teach you the basics of

- how to use the paddle
- where to stand on the paddle board
- how to steer the board
- how to fall of the board without hurting yourself
- how to catch waves and maneuver the board in the waves.

Have a look at Swell staff member doing some paddle surfing on Cabarete's main reef.

We teach the paddle surfing lessons at Cabarete bay, whenever the conditions are suitable to do so, preferably glassy conditions with small gentle waves on Cabarete's reef.

For the more experienced paddle boarders we offer 5 different SUP boards for rent, with quality carbon paddles along with good advice on where and when to find the best waves. Trips to different SUP spots can also be organized (although we think that Cabarete's main reef is one of the best spots for paddle boarders of all levels)
